Medical Massage

At Rückenpraxis Seefeld, therapists and doctors work closely together to provide you with the best possible treatment. First, Dr. med. Michel Schneider, Medical Director, conducts a detailed neurosurgical assessment of your back or neck complaints. If a medical massage is necessary, your case will be discussed interdisciplinarily. Our certified medical massage therapist then performs the treatment professionally in the practice.

Medical massage is a form of therapeutic massage that is used specifically to treat musculoskeletal complaints. In contrast to the relaxing wellness massage, which generally aims to reduce stress and increase general well-being, the medical masseur concentrates on the targeted treatment of medical conditions.

Medical massage can be helpful for the following complaints and diseases:
  • Pain in the lower and upper back
  • Neck pain
  • Headaches
  • Stress-related muscle tension
  • Muscle strains after sports injuries
  • Complaints due to surgical scars
  • Lymphoedema

During the medical massage, special grip techniques are used to treat your muscles, connective tissue and joints. Muscle tensions and adhesions in the tissue can be relieved, blood circulation stimulated, and the joints mobilized. At the Rückenpraxis Seefeld, highly effective essential oils from doTERRA are used to enhance the effect of the medical massage. These can, for example, trigger a soothing skin sensation and increase blood circulation, which can help to relieve pain. Medical massage can be supplemented by additional measures such as lymphatic drainage, foot reflexology and trigger point therapy.

Treatment Costs

The treatment lasts 45 minutes and costs CHF 130, payable at the practice after your session.

Treatments / Therapies
Manual lymphatic drainage is a medical massage technique that stimulates lymph flow and removes accumulated lymph fluid in the tissue. Lymph is a body fluid that contains, among other things, lymphocytes (white blood cells), electrolytes (mineral salts) and proteins, and is found in the lymph vessels. An important function of the lymphatic system is tissue drainage, as it drains excess tissue fluid into the lymph vessels. If the lymph cannot drain properly, this can lead to lymphoedema (tissue swelling). There are congenital (primary) and the much more common acquired (secondary) lymphoedema. Secondary lymphoedema can occur after operations, injuries, inflammation, etc. At the Rückenpraxis Seefeld, we offer our patients manual lymphatic drainage, e.g. after an operation, in which the lymph flow is stimulated with special hand movements in order to reduce swelling in the tissue and promote healing.

Frequently asked questions on
Medical Massages
A medical massage can help you with the following back problems, among others:
  • Muscle tension: One of the most common causes of back pain is muscle tension, which can be caused by excessive strain, after an accident, stress or poor posture. A medical massage can help to relieve these tensions and loosen the muscles.
  • Herniated discs: Herniated discs can lead to pain, numbness and muscle weakness in the arms or legs. In addition to pain medication, physiotherapy and cortisone infiltrations, medical massage can help to relax the surrounding muscles and improve circulation, which can help to relieve pain.
  • Spinal curvatures: Conditions such as scoliosis or kyphosis can lead to back pain and limited mobility. Targeted massage can be used to try to compensate for muscle dysbalances and alleviate the symptoms.
